Presentation and video links
I don't mean to fill your inbox, but it's a big week for Late Edition
I just wanted to share a couple of things that I think are important.
First and foremost is a reminder to sign up for my talk this week at the Keweenaw Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, April 11, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. Eastern, 9:30 a.m. Central.
While I mentioned a link before, the organizers ask that you email them at firstname.lastname@example.org to register and get connected.
The talk will cover what a news desert is, why they’re detrimental, and how one might be reversed. Spoiler: I think most of the U.P. could be considered a news desert, but national sources say it could be a lot worse!
Monday night’s showing of Braver Angels: Reuniting America was interesting. I think the documentary was good, and an interesting and sometimes moving presentation. However, we were left feeling that perhaps it was a bit naive and failed to address certain issues. Ultimately, the exercise is about recognizing each other’s humanity and the fact we have more in common than not. We thought some of the activities might be put to use locally, but didn’t feel too hopeful about a Red-and-Blue coming together.
Perhaps you’re more optimistic than those of us who discussed it together.
If you’d like to watch it on your own, here it is from YouTube:
If this option doesn’t work for you and you’re still interested in checking it out, let me know and I’ll help you get the download file in a format watchable for you.
Thanks for reading, and as always, feel free to share!
