Just one small announcement to share up here.
We got our 501(c)3 status! We’re officially tax-exempt!
That doesn’t mean an end to paperwork for me, but it’s a great milestone. We’ve officially launched as the Keweenaw area’s 501(c)3 non-profit news source. Now it’s just a matter of building our news-gathering capacity!
With that, I’d like to share this week’s feature, written by Jennifer Donovan. I’d also like to point out that this story was only possible because of a tip I received from someone on Facebook. Your news tips matter!

Chief Judge Beryl Howell also sentenced Anthony Robert Williams, 47, of Southgate, Michigan, to three years of supervised release after his prison term and ordered him to pay $2,000 in restitution and a $5,000 fine, according to a U.S. Justice Department news release.
