Kind of a somber week this week. I’d like to offer one of my favorite poems.

No Man is an Island

No man is an island entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main; if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as any manner of thy friends or of thine own were; any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind. And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

—John Donne, 1572-1631

Paying respect to Deb Mann

I was surprised and saddened to learn of the death of Deb Mann. Not many could match her passion for community service, and she certainly left her mark here. Below are some of the stories recognizing or featuring her from the last year.

Hancock invests effort and funds for new dog park

Daily Mining Gazette

This story, from slightly more than a year ago, makes it clear just how much effort had to go into the dog park in Hancock. And it was done, in large part thanks to Deb Mann.

Deb Mann tended to direct the spotlight elsewhere when approached, but I was able to hunt up one unique photo of her (left) at the table for Parade of Nations in 2020, when it was reduced to little more than a scavenger hunt.
