The Finlandia University Gallery will cease operations at the end of 2022. Miriam takes a look at some of its history, and its last exhibit by Tuomas Korkalo.
One thing not on the calendar (because it’s already in progress) is the 41 North Film Festival. There is always a great selection of films on offer, I highly suggest you at least browse the list and check out a couple of them. All the films are free and open to the public.

VOTE on or before Nov. 8
If you’re the kind of person to support local news, or at least regularly actually read local news, you’re probably among the more informed people around, and exactly who we need voting. Take advantage of the different official options (don’t get confused by national news, voting is handled by the state of Michigan!) out there and get it done. I mailed mine in last week since I’ll be at work most of the day and don’t want to wait in line after work. Shorter line for anyone else who chooses to vote in person, though!

Upper Michigan Source (TV6)
The Hancock man accused of shooting and killing his mother in January is scheduled for sentencing. Isaiah Strieter pleaded no contest on Oct. 14 to manslaughter. He is scheduled to be sentenced for the charge on Jan. 4, 2023 in Houghton County Circuit Court.
