On my way back from taking photos along the Portage Waterway, I spotted these Ford Model As and followed them.
They’re part of the Up North Model A Club, based in Wausau, Wisconsin, and four of their 32 members came north to visit various locations in the Keweenaw Peninsula. You might have seen them anywhere between South Range and Copper Harbor. I caught them on their way home, stopping for gas in front of Econofoods.
This soft-topped Model A is a 1931 Roadster.
This was one of two 1930 Model A Coupes in the group.
The last car in the group is a 1931 Model A Slant Windshield Sedan, the only one of the four with four doors. I asked what kind of gas the driver puts in it, and he told me usually regular, but if it’s over 90 degrees outside he puts premium because the cast carburetor gets too hot and boils off the fuel!
