Hello reader!

Just a couple of things to share with you today.

One thing I wanted to share was AI art generation.

Four images I was provided with by Midjourney AI when I input the word “journalism”.

It’s really quite fascinating. The AI looks at other images tagged with “Journalism” and then composes its own version of them based on what it sees.

I’ve been using a kind of special version called Midjourney AI that might be difficult for the less technically inclined to access, but Stable Diffusion 2.1 is quite simple to use, free, and ad-free. You also get to keep the rights to any of the images you generate. The “journalism” images above are mine to use as I please, too.

Just follow the link above or the button below, enter your “prompt” and hit the Generate button.

Stable Diffusion 2.1

If you’re on a smartphone, I’d recommend the app Photoleap. It’s easy to use, has a pretty good free version, and lacks ads (for now).

I just wanted to invite you to play around with this a little and imagine what it will mean for the future of art. And for deep fakes.

“Mall Santa” using Midjourney AI.
“Riot Photo” using Stable Diffusion 2.1
“Riot Photo” using Midjourney AI
“Crime Scene Photo” using Midjourney AI
“Puppies with hats” using Midjourney AI

These took me about 20 minutes to make. Imagine what someone could do with a dedicated couple of hours.

Keep it real,

Bruce wanted to point out that, since he lives in the Ontonagon Village area, his stories and historical knowledge are focused on the Ojibwa there, and he doesn’t have as much to share about the tribes that lived elsewhere in the area.

This is part two in the series.
